Choose a location of importance.

While your photographer probably has a list full of locations that are beautiful, your session will have a greater significance to you both if it is a location that means a lot to you both! Did you guys meet at a coffee shop? Did he say he loved you on your grandmother's porch swing? Was your first date at a nice restaurant downtown? Think of those questions as you are taking stock of what you want your photos to look like.

Bring any and all props.

Are you unsure what to do during your session? Your photographer will help with poses, but to help get a variety of photos, bring any and all props. Grab the ring box, the sign with your wedding date, a blanket, or even your sweet pup to add some extra fun to your session!

Create a Pinterest board for inspo.

This might seem like a simple one but coming prepared for your session can make the most of your time with your photographer, and insures that you will have a variety of photos for your engagement session.

Take a deep breathe and relax. Candid photos are great, too.

While preparing with poses can be helpful if you get into an awkward stint in your session, sometimes just being silly, talking, and spending time together is the best way to capture your love. So, relax and enjoy yourselves, and you will find that the photos will look effortless and carefree.

Don't stress the weather.

Ah...the cold, the rain, and the extreme heat can take a toll on us all during a session. We all love a beautiful golden hour, but sometimes the mess of the weather gives us the opportunity to embrace it and capture the moment now. Let's look at the silver lining and see what we can do.
